COVID-19 Paid Leave

As a reminder, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) paid leave provisions continue through December 31, 2020.

If you are unable to work due to a qualifying COVID-19 reason, you will use this federally mandated leave first, up to a maximum of two weeks (80 hours, or a part-time employee’s two-week equivalent).  You would be paid at either 100 percent or two-thirds of your regular pay, based on the qualifying reason.

Qualifying Reasons

If the qualifying COVID-19 reason that you need to miss work is paid at two-thirds, you may want to supplement with your available paid leave in order to get to the full pay (e.g., family leave, personal, or vacation days).  If you are interested in this option, please contact Alex Koenen at koenena@wdmcs.org.

Sometimes it is unavoidable to stay at a distance from a confirmed case of COVID-19, such as if the confirmed case is a family member.  If that happens, you would likely need to miss more than two weeks of work.  (You would need to self-quarantine 14 days beyond the end of your close contact’s isolation period.).  After using the two weeks of COVID-19 leave, you would use available paid leave (e.g., personal or vacation days) and if needed, unpaid leave.   If you have questions about your available leave, please contact Jackie Armstrong at armstrongj@wdmcs.org or Starr Himes at himess@wdmcs.org.  If you want to spread out the impact of unpaid days, contact Alex Koenen at koenena@wdmcs.
