WDMCS Holds Forums on Equal Employment Opportunity Plan (11/22/2022)

Nov. 22, 2022 | While all employers must provide fair and equal opportunity for employment, West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) has made a greater commitment to recruit for job categories where groups are underrepresented. The district recently conducted an analysis on staff demographics and considered what changes were needed in our hiring policies and practices to diversify who works for WDMCS.

As a result, we established a series of goals related to the equal employment opportunity and affirmative action (EEO/AA) plan. We invite you to join us at one of two public forums where we will share our plan and goals. During each meeting, you are encouraged to ask questions and provide feedback.

EEO/AA Plan Feedback Forum 1
When: Tuesday, Nov. 29, 5-6 p.m.
Where: Community Room, Learning Resource Center, 3550 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines, IA

EEO/AA Plan Feedback Forum 2
When: Thursday, Dec. 1, 5-6 p.m.
Where: Valley Southwoods Freshman High School, 625 S. 35th St., West Des Moines, IA

The forum will include a community welcoming, information on the EEO/AA Plan, discussion and feedback on the goals, and general conversation on WDMCS efforts in this area.

Thank you for using your voice and providing your input to WDMCS. Please reach out to Chief Human Resources Officer Josie Lewis and Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Dau Jok, Ph.D., with any questions.
