WDMCS Teams Earn Top Scores at 2021 State Archery Finals (04/07/2021)
April 7, 2021 | Three West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) teams earned top honors at the 2021 State Archery Finals. The Tiger Archery teams placed in the top three across two different events, Bullseye and 3D.
The Valley High School Tiger Archery team earned a repeat as state champions in Bullseye with a team score of 3377. The team also earned third place in 3D with a score of 1691. Individually, junior Mason Lind earned fourth place among high school male archers with a score of 291, and sophomore Kade Butterwegge took 10th place with 285. Junior Taylor Butterwegge scored 285, earning seventh place in the high school female division.
Stilwell Junior High’s team finished in first place in Bullseye and second place for 3D. Eighth grader Quinton Ballou earned second place in the middle school Bullseye division with a score of 285. Eighth grader Ella Melco was close behind with a score of 283 for fourth place. Eighth grader Andrew Zhang was the top scorer in 3D, earning 286 points. Melco took third place in 3D with 283 points, and Ballou earned seventh palace with 274 points.
Jordan Creek Elementary’s archers earned third place overall, with fifth grader D.J. Hybels scoring 265 for ninth place.
