At Western Hills Elementary School we practice Positive Behavior Supports. School-wide Positive Behavioral Support is a set of strategies and systems designed to increase the capacity of teachers to reduce disruptions in the classroom so that all students have the opportunity to learn.
Through this frame-work, students are encouraged to demonstrate their best behavior on a consistent basis by making sure everyone understands what the expectations are for positive behavior. Frequent and explicit instruction is provided by school staff so students know how their behavior is expected to “look” and “sound” while in school. Logical and appropriate rewards and consequences are provided so students feel encouraged to do their best work.
PBIS is a way for schools, parents and communities to help kids learn consistent positive behavior patterns.
