All students are required to complete both semesters of Language and Literature in addition to Speech Communication or Fundamentals of Writing. Students are required to complete both semesters of Language and Literature before they enroll in Fundamentals. In addition to completing the required courses, students must complete two elective courses in Language Arts before they graduate. One of the two electives must be a literature course.

Parents and students are advised that nearly all colleges and universities now require incoming freshmen to show successful completion of eight semesters of Language Arts courses in high school.
