Valley Southwoods Learners Host Indian Festival

About 200 family members, community members, and school faculty attended the Indian Festival hosted by Valley Southwoods Freshman High School Humanities students on Jan. 4. Learners from the Project-Based Learning Network school-within-a-school Woods Academy spent three weeks researching and planning presentations on topics like politics, education, religion, and society in India. Each team created colorful displays featuring visual and interactive elements to help them educate attendees on their topics and answer the three driving questions of the course:

  1. Where can I find the humanity in people who are different from me?
  2. How can I be a good neighbor to people from all cultures in my local community?
  3. How can I go into the world to learn from and contribute to others within the framework of their culture?
