Valley’s Jordy Triana named to United Soccer Coaches All-America Team
Valley High School student-athlete Jordy Triana has been named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches High School Boys’ All-America team, as announced Tuesday by the association.
Triana, who graduated from Valley in May, is the only Midwestern player on the nationwide list. The association says it will formally recognize Triana and the other 19 student-athletes at next January’s United Soccer Coaches Convention in Chicago.
Triana was recently named as the Gatorade Iowa Boys’ Soccer Player of the Year. This past season, he led the Tigers to an 18-2 record and a Class 3A state tournament berth.
Triana ranked first on the team with 10 assists and second in goals scored at 14. He was named by the Des Moines Register as an All-Iowa Elite team pick.
During his high school career, Triana was a four-time, first team all-conference selection.
“Jordy is an example to his teammates by how he sets his standards to the highest level of soccer in our program,” Valley head soccer coach Aziz Haffar previously said. “He really demands quality performances from his teammates, while at the same time he displays a lot of patience and understanding. To me personally, I’m very honored and proud to have been his coach.
“He will succeed in life because he’s very intelligent and knows what it takes to achieve his goals.”
