Five Valley Students Awarded University of Iowa Presidential Scholarship
Five Valley High School students have been awarded the University of Iowa’s Presidential Scholarship, the university’s most prestigious undergraduate merit scholarship. Seniors Lucy Brown, JJ Kapur, Varun Myneni, Anvay Pradhan, and Ann Thomas were selected from more than 500 applicants for their “extraordinary intellectual curiosity, exceptional academic ability, and authentic connection to community.”
To apply for the Presidential Scholarship, students must be admitted to the University of Iowa, have earned at least a 3.8 high school GPA, and achieved an ACT composite score of 33 or an equivalent SAT score. Then selectors representing the University of Iowa’s five undergraduate colleges and a broad spectrum of academic disciplines come together to review the hundreds of applications.
The full-ride scholarship provides up to $20,000 for tuition and fees in the first year and is renewable for an additional three years or until scholars receive their bachelor’s degree (whichever comes first). If Presidential Scholars choose to attend the University of Iowa, they must maintain continuous full-time enrollment as well as membership in the University of Iowa Honors Program.
Congratulations to this year’s Presidential Scholars!
