WDMCS is excited to announce a week of activities for Homecoming 2024 beginning Monday, Sept. 16. This year's theme is "Peace, Love, and Homecoming."

The WDMCS Board of Education will hold a workshop meeting at 5:15 p.m. followed by a regular meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, at the Learning Resource Center in West Des Moines.

WDMCS Community Education is saying goodbye to two long-time colleagues with 60 years of combined experience this spring. Kids West Program Supervisor Amy Dvorak and Continuing Education Coordinator Sue Otte couldn't seem more different at first glance, but they are similarly dedicated to WDMCS students and families and will leave a lasting impression on their department as they retire.

Seniors who attended an elementary school in the district as sixth graders are invited to return to their home elementary school to celebrate their graduation on Wednesday, May 22.

Cadets in Valley’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFJROTC) took to the air for experiential learning as part of a Flight Orientation Program sponsored by the Air Force through the local Civil Air Patrol. Each student cadet got to sit side-by-side with expert Civil Air Patrol pilots and had the opportunity to help pilot the aircraft.

West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) Preschool Programs invites children ages 2-6 and their grown-ups to Preschool Palooza, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) students and families will connect through student artwork at the district's Impact of Art event on Thursday, March 28 from 5-7 p.m. Students in grades K-12 will exhibit their art at the Learning Resource Center and celebrate the importance of arts education with their families and other guests.

Valley High School is the first ever recipient of the Capitol Award presented by the Iowa Secretary of State. We were selected as a result of Valley’s successful voter registration efforts that led to over 300 students registering to vote. Secondary Social Studies Curriculum Lead and a Social Studies Teacher Kelsey Hudson helped drive the initiative and shared the significance of this recognition.
