Culture and Access

In partnership with students, staff, and the community, West Des Moines Community Schools is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where all students and staff can belong and thrive. The district is actively engaged in ongoing learning opportunities for students and staff. Culture and access efforts are supported by teams at each of our school buildings.

Community Engagement Events

WDMCS students, families, staff, and community members are invited to join us for community engagement events several times throughout the school year. The district will share culture and access updates and learning on special topics.

Feb. 10, 2026 Community Engagement Event

Please join the WDMCS Culture & Access Department for its February 2026 community engagement event. Attendees will discuss results from the district’s desired daily experiences survey and provide perspectives on alternative education planning during a community forum co-hosted by Walnut Creek Campus alum Marc Schlaf and Principal Dr. Kim Davis. Dinner will be provided, and ALL are welcome!
