Voluntary Transfer
A within-district transfer is when a student lives in one WDMCS school area but wants to go to a different WDMCS school. Parents/guardians who get approved for this transfer agree to limited district transportation or arrange their own transportation to and from school. If you want to request a within-district transfer, please fill out the form below.
Transportation with Voluntary Transfers
From Board Policy 710.02 – Student Eligibility for Bus Services and Bus Pass Fees
A student can ride a district school bus as a voluntary transfer if they meet certain criteria. A voluntary transfer happens when a parent or guardian asks for the student to go to a school other than their neighborhood school. The principal at the new school has to approve the transfer based on available space.
Transportation for Voluntary Transfer Students
For a student to use the school bus:
- They must go to a bus stop in the school's boundaries.
- The bus must have space for the student. Students in the school boundary have priority if the bus is almost full.
- Since using the school bus is a service for voluntary transfer students, regular bus pass fees must be paid.
