Tiger Cubs Preschool Overview

  • Tiger Cubs is the West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) preschool program, funded through Statewide Voluntary Preschool, with no cost to families. Tiger Cubs provides opportunities for children to devlop important learning skills. Tiger Cubs Preschool offers 4-year-old programs at several WDMCS locations. Tiger Cubs Preschool includes students ages 3-5 with special needs who have an IEP.

    Tiger Cubs Preschool meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at each school and is a half-day preschool program.

    Tiger Cubs Preschool Times for Programs Except Crestview
      • Morning Preschool—9:05-11:50 a.m. 
      • Afternoon Preschool—1:10-3:55 p.m. 

    Crestview School of Inquiry Tiger Cubs Preschool Times 
      • Morning Preschool—8:20-11:05 a.m.
      • Afternoon Preschool—12:25-3:10 p.m.

Admission and Enrollment

  • Admission

    • Children must be 4 years of age on or before Sept. 15 for the 4-year-old classes.
    • Preschool is half a day, four days per week. (See all times below.)
    • Parents must complete all enrollment forms.
    • Completing online enrollment does not guarantee your child a spot at a Tiger Cubs Preschool.
    • Parents are responsible for transportation and attendance of their child.

    If you have or know a child who is ready for preschool in the fall, Tiger Cubs Preschool enrollment for 2023-24 is now open to in- and out-of-district families!

    Tiger Cubs Preschool is currently accepting in- and out-of-district families for 2022-23 preschool enrollment.

    • Our Multilingual Family Engagement Specialists will also directly contact families to provide language and interpretation support.
