Welcome to Valley Southwoods Announcements! You can now view announcements by scrolling down the page OR by clicking on the month or tag in the right-hand column. A "tag" is like a filter which will narrow down the type of announcements to a particular category like counseling, scholarships, Silver Cord, etc.

How to Submit an Announcement
All WDMCS employees can submit a VSW announcement
- Log into the WDMCS website under "Employee Options" at the top of the page or in the footer.
- Once logged in, scroll down to the bottom of the Announcements page.
- Select the "Add" button.
- Type in all the required fields and select "Submit."
- A Valley Southwoods staff member will review your submission and either approve it or get back to you with questions.
The video explains how to submit to Valley Vibes but the process is the same for VSW announcements.

Students must work with a WDMCS employee to submit a VSW announcement.

Meals from the Heartland: Meals (March) Madness

If you’re “staycationing” for spring break or if your work group is looking to have some fun, join us for our annual Meals Madness meal packaging event! Two-hour packaging shifts will be available Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. at our West Des Moines Packaging Center. This is a great way to engage your coworkers, friends, and family in some fun, community service. Grab your mask and join us to package our goal of 400,000 meals!

Valley Girls’ Rugby Club Season Is Starting Soon
Posted by Andrew Ridgeway on 3/9/2021Come out and try something new this year. Everyone from grades 9-12 is welcome. Bring along a friend to learn and have fun together. Practices are located at Indian Hills Junior High and go from from 4:30-6 p.m.

Planet 7 Group Leader Applications
Posted by Planet 7 on 3/9/2021Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 30. West Des Moines Parks and Recreation is recruiting Planet 7 Group Leaders. Interested candidates must enjoy working with junior high students, be a team player, and add value to the program. Candidates who fill out a detailed application and elaborate on why they want to be a Planet 7 Leader will receive greater consideration. Those selected can earn up to 38 hours of Silver Cord credit OR $100.

Yes! We get to have our blood drive! It is Tuesday, April 6 (odd day). The cool thing is they are bringing two big bloodmobiles! If you have any questions see Mrs. Edwards in 1630 or email at edwardsj@wdmcs.org. You can even get an hour for Silver Cord.

Working at Waveland gives you golf privileges at five area Des Moines courses, 30-40 hours weekly, a competitive hourly wage, lunch provided at the clubhouse, and free uniform shirts. Must be at least 18, dependable and have reliable transportation to and from work.
