COVID-19 Dashboard Overview

  • To help our families make informed decisions, West Des Moines Community Schools created an online dashboard to share the most up-to-date information on positive COVID-19 cases and close contacts within WDMCS.

This online dashboard was last updated Friday, April 16, 2021, 11:09 a.m.
The WDMCS online COVID-19 dashboard is updated by n
oon each weekday with the PREVIOUS day’s data. (Tuesday updates will include Saturday, Sunday, and Monday data.)

Disclaimer: All COVID-19 data WDMCS shares is for informational purposes only. This information is based on reports to the district from other sources which have not been independently verified. WDMCS confers with Polk County Health Department to track COVID-19 cases and trace close contacts.

*Close contact is defined by the CDC as within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more.

    • Based on new guidance as of Sept. 29, 2020, from Iowa health agencies, a close contact no longer needs to quarantine for 14 days IF the close contact AND the person who tested positive for COVID-19 were properly wearing face masks during the time of exposure. Close contacts who do not meet the new guidance will self quarantine for 14 days, based on guidance from the Polk County Health Department. Students will transition to the online learning environment during this time. Staff may transition online based on their role and ability to continue their job responsibilities while quarantined. Close contacts who do not have to self-quarantine because proper face masks were worn by the individual who tested positive and the close contact WILL NOT be included in the dashboard data.
    • As of April 9, 2021, staff and students who were fully vaccinated MORE THAN TWO WEEKS AGO no longer need to quarantine or get tested when exposed to COVID-19 unless they are experiencing symptoms. Close contacts must monitor for symptoms and not return if symptoms start. Fully vaccinated close contacts will still be included in dashboard data.
