Career Pathways Overview

  • Career Pathways are a new tool to guide West Des Moines Community Schools students as they launch their futures. Students can select courses, activities, and more within a pathway — or pathways — they are interested in, all based on potential careers.

Explore and develop your skills with pathway opportunities in the following areas:

    •  Pathway Courses: recommended courses in each pathway
    •  Related Electives: additional course opportunities for students
    •  Career-Related Activities: extra- or co-curricular activities related to each pathway
    •  Potential College Majors: areas of study aligned with each pathway that students could pursue to earn a college degree
    •  Certificates—High School and DMACC: recognition indicating qualification and/or competency in career pathway skills
    •  Workplace Learning Experience: extended and authentic opportunities, often with community or business partners
