Within-District Transfer
A within-district transfer student (also known as a voluntary transfer student) is a child who lives in one school boundary area in the WDMCS, but requests to attend a school in another boundary area within the WDMCS. Parents who are approved for a within-district transfer agree to limited transportation options from the district or provide their own transportation to and from school. If you wish to request a transfer to a school other than your neighborhood or cap-out school, please fill out a form below.

From Board Policy 710.02 – Student Eligibility for Bus Services and Bus Pass Fees
A voluntary transfer student may ride a district school bus if he/she meets the established criteria. (A voluntary transfer occurs when a parent or guardian requests the student attend a school other than his/her neighborhood school. The principal at the receiving school must approve the voluntary transfer, based on available space).
Transportation for Voluntary Transfer Students
-
The student must go to an existing bus stop within the attending school’s boundaries.
-
The bus must have space available for the student requesting the transportation. Students living inside the school boundary will have preference if the bus is approaching capacity.
-
Because school bus transportation is a service provided to voluntary transfer students, regular bus pass fees must be paid.
