Welcome to the West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS)! Thank you for choosing WDMCS for your family.
Whether you are new to our district, enrolling a first-time or returning student, or interested in the within-district transfer option, we are happy you chose to join our district family!
I want to enroll…
A within-district transfer (voluntary transfer) student is a child who lives in one school boundary area in the WDMCS, but requests to attend a school in another boundary area within the WDMCS. Parents who are approved for a voluntary transfer agree to limited transportation options from the district or provide their own transportation to and from school.
The Open Enrollment law permits a wide range of educational choices for students enrolled in schools in Iowa. A parent/guardian may request open enrollment to a district other than the district of residence if application deadlines are met and/or a good cause (as defined by law) exists.
The WDMCS Home School Assistance Program has been offering support to families who wish to educate their children at home since the early 1990s.
Tiger Cubs is our WDMCS preschool program. There are Tiger Cubs Preschool programs at Clive Learning Academy, Crestview School of Inquiry, and Fairmeadows, Jordan Creek, Western Hills, and Westridge elementary schools.
Online Tiger Cubs preschool enrollment starts in January of each year. For example, enrollment for 2020-21 Tiger Cubs preschool started in January 2020.
Online kindergarten enrollment for the 2021-22 school year starts Nov. 1.
A new WDMCS student is one who is enrolling in WDMCS directly after attending in another district. New students can enroll year-round but most enroll for a new year during the preceding summer.
A returning WDMCS student is one who attended a WDMCS school during the last/current year and is enrolling in WDMCS again for the coming year. All WDMCS students enroll online through Infinite Campus each year. Instead of providing or filling out all forms, returning students update and/or verify their information during this “Tiger Enrollment” process. Tiger Enrollment takes place each summer for the following school year.
