West Des Moines Community Schools will welcome Bryan Geelan as the new Communications Department director starting Monday, Aug. 19. The Board of Education approved his hiring at the Aug. 12 regular business meeting.

"I'm beyond excited to join the team at West Des Moines Community Schools,” Bryan shared in an email. “I look forward to sharing the story of this proud district and getting to know the people who make it so special."

Bryan is currently the marketing communications director for the American Heart Association — Iowa where he has served for the past two and a half years. Prior to that, he served Simpson College as the marketing communications director for three years following 10 years as Simpson’s athletics communication director. During his Simpson tenure, Bryan twice led the office of marketing and strategic communication on an interim basis during leadership transitions. Bryan graduated with honors from Simpson with a bachelor’s degree in corporate communication and marketing.

One reference noted, “Bryan is an amazing team member — creative, hard-working, detailed, kind to all, and can work with individuals of all backgrounds.”

We warmly welcome Bryan to WDMCS and are eager to add his passion for storytelling and relationship-building with students, families, and staff to our team of dedicated educators.
