Because of severe storm conditions forecast for this afternoon in central Iowa, schools will dismiss two hours early today, Tuesday, May 21, 2024. 

This announcement means:

• The junior highs will dismiss at 12:35 p.m.
• Valley High School and Valley Southwoods will dismiss at 1:20 p.m. 
• Walnut Creek and Crestview School of Inquiry will dismiss at 1:10 p.m.
• All other elementaries will dismiss at 1:55 p.m. 
• There will be no Tiger Cubs preschool afternoon classes. Tiger Cubs morning classes will dismiss at normal time. If you are a community partner preschool parent, please contact that facility.
• School buses will run according to the adjusted schedule, including out-of-district services.
• All after-school activities, practices, and games are canceled. Details about the Girls’ State Soccer Tournament will be shared later today. 
• The Valley Southwoods Ribbon Cutting and the Apprenticeship Signing Day will be rescheduled. 
• No evening Community Education classes, activities, and programs will be held. This includes LEARNwest and Adventures classes and all facility use.
• Kids West will close at 2:30 p.m. Parents/guardians are asked to pick their students up as soon as possible after school dismisses.
