Chad Jamison, current physical education teacher and elementary curriculum leader in the Waukee Community School District, has been named the next assistant principal at Jordan Creek Elementary School.

Jamsion will begin his new role July 1, 2025, pending approval by the West Des Moines Community Schools Board of Education.

An up-and-coming administrator praised for his high-tenacity and positive-energy, Jamison recently excelled as an interim assistant principal at both Walnut Hills and Shuler Elementary Schools. During that time, he demonstrated a relationship-focused, solution-oriented, and student-centered approach to leadership.

“Chad is an excelling leader who will be a superstar administrator,” one reference said. “He is beyond his years of experience and has been overly successful with our staff and students.”

As interim assistant principal, Jamison oversaw building attendance policies and substitute systems,  managed associates, and handled student, parent, and staff concerns.

Jeannette Barnes

Jamison will replace Dr. Jeannette Barnes, who recently accepted the role of childhood special education and preschool program administrator at West Des Moines Community Schools.

Barnes has spent the last four years as assistant principal at Jordan Creek Elementary, where she manages the special education team, facilitates the professional learning communities, and co-facilitates the building leadership team to align school goals with district initiatives.

“Jeannette is a dedicated educator with a strong desire to help each student reach their potential,” one reference said. “Through her interactions with students, staff and families, Jeannette evidences her ability to listen, support and problem solve for positive outcomes.”

Barnes will move into her new role July 1, 2025. She takes over for Amy Kolln, who served in the role for two years.
