Jenna Pressley has been named the next director of human resources for West Des Moines Community Schools.

The principal at Western Hills Elementary for the past five years, Pressley has been in education for 15 years. She brings a wealth of experience working with students, staff, and families into her new role.

“Jenna truly is an example of a lifelong learner who helps cultivate belonging, engagement, and multicultural respect for all employees, students, and families,” said Rod Dooley, WDMCS chief human resources officer. “We’re excited to see her leverage her experiences and systems mindset to help develop and improve HR processes and services while growing as an HR professional.”

Prior to joining WDMCS as Western Hills principal in 2021, Pressley spent eight years at the Ankeny Community School District. There, she served as a school administration manager, district behavior coach, and high school special education teacher.

Pressley began her career in special education at the Urbandale Community School District.

“Jenna is a reflective leader who takes the time to gather feedback and put thoughtful actions in place,” said Michelle Lettington, WDMCS executive director of elementary education. “She values the voice of students, families, and staff. She promoted a culture of commitment during her time at Western Hills and her transformative leadership style will be a valuable asset in her new role serving the entire district.”

Pressley earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa before adding a master’s in special education from Morningside College (now Morningside University).
