Wendt will begin his new role July 1, 2025 pending approval by the West Des Moines Community Schools Board of Education at its regular meeting May 12.

Finishing his sixth year at Northview, Wendt has played a key role in student behavior initiatives, special education, professional development, and instructional leadership. His extensive leadership experience spans multiple districts, including previous roles at Waukee and Nodaway Valley.

With more than 20 years of experience at WDMCS, Ehlert was named associate principal and activities director at Indian Hills in April. She currently serves as the interim associate principal activities director at Stilwell Junior High. Before moving to her interim role, Ehlert spent three years serving both Indian Hills and Stilwell as a teacher leader and instructional coach.

The team of Wendt and Ehlert will take over for the team of Dr. Shane Christensen and Zac Sinram in 2025-26. Sinram, associate principal and activities director for the last 12 years, will be the activities director at Valley.
