Students are the stars of West Des Moines Community Schools.

Whether leading in the classroom, supporting a friend, or bringing unique talents to their building, our students make WDMCS shine.

To celebrate the incredible community of students we serve, WDMCS will host its first-ever Student Appreciation Week beginning Monday, Feb. 2.

The week is centered on recognizing the star power in each student. We want every student to know how much we value the gifts, talents, and leadership they bring to the district.

Here are a few of the ways we’ll celebrate across the district:

  • Student LEAD Awards: Honoring students who LEAD by example, ENGAGE with purpose, APPRECIATE their community, and DETERMINE their own path.
  • Stickers for All: Commemorative Student Appreciation Week Stickers for every student – because all students are worth celebrating!
  • International Night: Valley High School World Cultures Club’s annual night of cultural exploration is Thursday, Feb. 5. Event is 6-9 p.m. Purchase tickets online by Feb. 4.
  • Basketball Tickets: Free admission for all students to the Valley High School basketball games Friday, Feb. 6.
  • Slushie Dessert: Special Strawberry Kiwi Slushie cup for dessert Friday, Feb. 6.
  • And MORE!

Each school will have unique ways to celebrate in addition to the districtwide initiatives outlined above.
