Dan Stoa has been named the next assistant principal at Crestview School of Inquiry, pending approval by the West Des Moines Community Schools Board of Education.

Stoa currently serves as interim assistant principal at Crestview, a role he’s held since December 2025. A 16-year veteran of WDMCS, Stoa will begin his new role July 1, 2026.

“In every role he’s held — administrator, family engagement coordinator, and world languages teacher — Dan has created strong connections with students, staff, and families,” Crestview Principal Sue Lawler said. “He always seeks avenues to support our families and builds lasting relationships through clear and open communication.”

Stoa started his career at Valley High School in 2010 as a world languages teacher. In 2023, he transitioned to become a family engagement and learning supports coordinator. In that role, he served families in six buildings and helped develop and implement family service policies and procedures.

Stoa took over as interim assistant principal at Crestview in December 2025 when Lawler — then the assistant principal — was elevated to interim principal. A familiar face at Crestview, Stoa served the school in his role as family engagement and learning supports coordinator.

An undergraduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, Stoa went on to earn a master’s in Latin from the University of Iowa. He also earned a master’s in educational leadership from Drake University.
