We are pleased to announce that, starting July 1, Tyler Denton will take on the Crossroads Park Elementary assistant principal role, pending WDMCS Board of Education approval. He will replace Emily Backus who served in this position for the 2023-24 school year.
Since 2020, Denton has been a behavior coach with Marion Independent School District in Marion, IA. Prior to that, he taught for three years with Marion in special education teacher roles.
Denton earned a master of arts degree in Special Education from Morningside College, and will soon obtain a master’s degree in education with a curriculum emphasis through Viterbo University. He also received his PK-12 principalship accreditation from Viterbo.
One reference spoke highly of Denton’s ability to build relationships. “Recognizing the importance of establishing rapport early on, Tyler proactively engaged with parents, providing them with insightful information about their children’s days,” the reference noted. “This strategic approach laid the foundation for effective communication.”
We are excited to welcome Denton as the new assistant principal at Crossroads Park Elementary. We look forward to his energy, talent, and expertise as he joins a dedicated team of professionals who support student success.
