Orignal Post Below:

The West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) eagerly announces the completion of a $28 million renovation and expansion project at Valley Southwoods Freshman High School. Join us as we mark this milestone with a ribbon-cutting event, co-hosted by WDMCS and the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, at 4:30 p.m.

Mayor Russ Trimble of West Des Moines will offer brief remarks, alongside other school and chamber representatives.

The newly revamped Southwoods facilities will open up exciting avenues for students to delve into various career pathways, such as culinary arts, architecture and construction, manufacturing, and engineering technology, among others.

These opportunities won't be limited to Southwoods students alone; high schoolers from Valley, Southwoods, and Walnut Creek Campus will all have access to these enriching classes. By providing hands-on learning experiences, we aim to better equip our students for potential internships and apprenticeships within our community, thus contributing to the cultivation of the future workforce of West Des Moines and our broader community.
