The Valley High School boys golf team took third place at the 2024 Class 4A Iowa High School State Golf Championship contested Oct. 14-15 at Briarwood Golf Club in Ankeny. The Tigers shot 613 during the 36-hole tournament to finish six strokes behind team champion, Johnston.
Aidan McGreen and C.T. Norris represented Valley on the all-tournament team as McGreen placed fourth overall and Norris placed eighth. McGreen carded a 4-over 148 and Norris shot a 7-over 151.
The third-place finish comes one year after Valley won the sixth state championship in program history.
“We didn’t have our best stuff this week, but I’m so proud of how our team competed and battled,” head coach Philip Conover said. “We had a great season and have had a remarkable two-year run. This team has a lot to be proud of.”
Braeden Nelson followed his runner-up honors from 2023 with a 36th-place finish, shooting 159. Cade Sunde, Alec Parkinson and Eddie Hybels rounded out the finishers for the Tigers.
Anthony Galvin of Cedar Falls earned the individual state championship after shooting an even-par 144. View full tournament results at iowapgajr.bluegolf.com.
