WDMCS Schools Closed Through April 30

APRIL 17 UPDATE: Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced that Iowa schools will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.

ORIGINAL POST: Upon recommendations from Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) will remain closed until at least Thursday, April 30, 2020. As WDMCS Superintendent Lisa Remy, Ed.D., shared in an April 1 communication, WDMCS is quickly transitioning from offering resources online for students to more structured content. We want to expand the types of continuous learning students can work on at home. However, this is not required learning and grades will not be given for the work completed. You can expect support and feedback from our teachers.

Please view Dr. Remy’s video message or read her message on continuous learning.

We will continue to update staff and families on how we will support students successfully completing the 2019-20 school year as we develop plans based on continued guidance from the Iowa Department of Education.
