Central Bank Donates $5,000 to WDMCS Grab-and-Go Meal Program
West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) would like to thank Central Bank & Insurance for its recent $5,000 donation to the WDMCS “grab-and-go” meal program. The program is providing students with crucial nutrition during the district’s closure due to COVID-19 through safe meal distribution at six meal sites and home meal delivery.
“The impact the coronavirus has on local families is concerning. It’s been weighing heavily on our minds,” said Central Bank CFO and President John Brown. “We felt we had to do something substantial to assist with the ongoing availability of emergency food and supplies.”
Central Bank CEO and Chairman of the Board Tim Brown echoed these sentiments.
“Caring for your neighbor is even more crucial during times like this,” he said. “At Central Bank & Insurance, we feel it’s important to step up, help out, and provide support where it’s needed.”
The funds will be used to provide additional meals to students and families in need while WDMCS remains out of session. WDMCS Nutrition Services Director Willow Dye is working diligently with food distributors to maximize all funds to meet students’ nutritional needs.
“We are incredibly grateful to Central Bank & Insurance for this act of community solidary,” said Superintendent Lisa Remy, Ed.D. “We offer our sincere thanks for their support, which will allow us to provide even more children in our community with the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow, especially during these uncertain times.”
WDMCS Nutrition Services is currently serving and delivering almost 7,000 meals to community children each week.
WDMCS Nutrition Services Department upholds the USDA Nondiscrimination Statement, the Iowa Civil Rights Commission Nondiscrimination Statement, and the WDMCS Non-Discrimination Policy.
