WDMCS Coronavirus Update

Coronavirus Update: WDMCS Childcare, Offices, School Dates Impacted

APRIL 17 UPDATE: Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced that Iowa schools will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.

ORIGINAL POST: We just received word of updated recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

“The CDC, in accordance with its guidance for large events and mass gatherings, recommends that for the next 8 weeks, organizers (whether groups or individuals) cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States.” https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/large-events/mass-gatherings-ready-for-covid-19.html

As a result, Kids West childcare will be canceled until further notice. Athletic practices and activities are canceled effective immediately. The WDMCS Learning Resource Center will not be officially closed but will only be staffed by members of the Superintendent’s Leadership Cadre (SLC).

We will also be announcing that school will not resume as originally planned on Monday, March 23. Due to new recommendations announced by Governor Reynolds, school will most likely not resume for at least four weeks. Superintendency will meet Monday to determine next steps. WDMCS staff and families will receive more information tomorrow.

Thank you for your support during this difficult time.

Lisa Remy, Ed.D.
Superintendent
