Valley Girls’ Soccer Qualifies for Class 3A State Tournament
Update: The Valley High School varsity girls’ soccer team lost 2-1 to Dowling Catholic in the first round of the Class 3A Iowa high school state girls’ soccer tournament on Thursday, June 6.
The Tigers finish the 2019 season with a 15-4 record.
Original post: The Valley High School varsity girls’ soccer team has advanced to the Class 3A Iowa high school state girls’ soccer tournament after defeating Southeast Polk 2-0 in a regional final match on Monday, June 3.
The state tournament is June 6-8. All matches will be played at Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines.
Valley is the No. 2 seed at this year’s tournament. The Tigers will face seventh-seeded Dowling Catholic in the first round on Thursday, June 6. The match is set to start at 4:30 p.m., and will be played on Field 6. Admission to the state tournament is $10 per day, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union says.

Last season, the Tigers fell in the 3A semifinals. Valley’s most recent state girls’ soccer championship was in 2010.
Heading into this year’s tournament, the Tigers carry a 15-3 overall record. Additionally, head coach Rob Chapman was recently named All-Iowa girls’ soccer coach of the year by The Des Moines Register.
