Valley Girls’ Golf Wins Class 4A State Championship

The Valley High School varsity girls’ golf team was crowned Class 4A Iowa high school state girls’ golf champions on Wednesday, May 29. The 4A tournament was played at Coldwater Golf Links in Ames.

This is Valley’s first state girls’ golf championship since 2006.

The Tigers tallied on Tuesday a Round 1 score of 322 and a Round 2 mark of 309 Wednesday, good for a total of 631 and top honors. Bettendorf placed second at 656 and Waukee in third at 668.

Valley sophomore Paige Hoffman led the Tigers by placing first individually. She shot -5 over the tournament.

Last year, Hoffman and the Tigers were runners-up. Head coach of the team is third-year coach Kelli Moore, who in February was named 2019 Character Counts Coach of the Year.
