New ‘Allergy Aware’ Stickers to be Placed at Each WDMCS Building in Coming Weeks
West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) believes in providing a safe and inclusive allergy aware environment for all students, staff, and visitors. With this in mind, “Allergy Aware” stickers will be placed throughout each and every WDMCS building.
While preventative measures and response plans are in place to ensure student safety, WDMCS cannot guarantee that a particular classroom or portion of a school is completely allergen free. These new “Allergy Aware” stickers indicate that individual student health plans, Section 504, and/or Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) outline student specific accommodations and need to be accessible to adults working with students—including substitute teachers and/or assistants in the classroom.
Be on the lookout for the new “Allergy Aware” stickers in the coming weeks!
