Valley High School’s ‘Meet the Tigers Night’ kicks off fall sports season
To open the 2018 fall sports season, Valley High School hosted its “Meet the Tigers Night” on Aug. 16 at Tiger Field and inside the high school.
West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) parents, students, staff and community members welcomed and supported the high school students who participate in cheerleading, boys’ and girls’ cross country, dance, boys’ golf, football, girls’ swimming, and volleyball. During the event, each squad, from freshman-level to varsity, were introduced most showcased their skills to the public — either through a brief routine or scrimmage.
As a bonus, some of the teams’ events incorporated audience engagement, where small prizes like T-shirts and miniature balls were available to win as well as availability for autographs and photos. Attendees also toured Valley’s facilities, such as the Staplin Performing Arts Center and the weight room.
“‘Meet the Tigers Night’ (aka Dial Bowl) is just a great family night and a chance for us to introduce students of all ages to Valley High School and our fine programs,” said Brad Rose, director of athletics and activities. “It is also an opportunity for students to gather in support of each other and make Valley feel more like home.”
Additionally, “Meet the Tigers Night” was an opportunity to become more involved with the Valley Tiger Booster Club. At the event, VTBC promoted Tiger Tots, sold apparel, and provided order forms for yard signs.
