WDMCS Creates New Preschool Program Administrator Role

West Des Moines Community Schools (WDMCS) continues to expand its preschool opportunities with a goal to have all eight elementary schools offering preschool as part of the facilities master plan.

Currently in six buildings, WDMCS welcomed 295 Tiger Cubs into our buildings during the 2017-18 school year. That is in addition to nearly 300 additional preschoolers supported through community partner preschools.

A head shot of Holly Burns

Holly Burns.

Holly Burns, who has served as the Early Childhood Program Coordinator through Community Education since 2010, will retire in December 2018. In considering long-term goals for the program, the decision was made to adjust the job description and move the role to the Teaching and Learning Services department.

As a result, this administrator role will expand to oversee IEP student needs which were previously managed separately from Burns’ position.

We are excited to continue the excellent work Burns provided over the years to help make young students’ and families’ introduction to WDMCS positive and enriching. Please share the link below with anyone you know who would be interested in this role and meet the qualifications.
