Native Spanish-Speaking Students Enjoy Competencia de Hispanos

Fifth-grade students from all eight West Des Moines Community Schools elementary schools competed in the Competencia de Hispanos, a quiz bowl for native Spanish-speaking students, on Thursday, Feb. 8. Elementary Spanish teachers and K-12 World Language Curriculum Lead Reba Abraham organized the annual event. Students played games that helped them practice and develop their Spanish language skills, helped by native Spanish-speaking students from Valley High School and volunteers from Grandview College. Special thanks to the Grandview College Spanish Department for providing refreshments for the students.
