WDMCS Graduate Blogs About Week on Broadway

Recent Valley High School graduate Jessica Martens represented Iowa at the National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) in June. Competing at the awards in New York City was part of the Triple Threat Award Martens earned at the 2014-15 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards. The award is the program’s top honor for acting, singing, and dancing.

Martens and Iowa’s male Triple Threat Award winner, Lincoln Ginsberg of Cedar Rapids, traveled to New York with a Des Moines Performing Arts employee, Karoline Myers, to participate in the awards. They were able to take the trip thanks to a donation from Doug and Debbie West, and Martens agreed to blog about her experiences. (All photos provided by the Martens family.)
