Perrigo to be Recommended as Associate Principal of Valley

staff_Perrigo_2014The West Des Moines Community Schools announces that David Perrigo will be recommended for appointment as associate principal of Valley High School. Perrigo will begin his duties on July 15.

“We are very excited to have Mr. Perrigo join us at Valley High School,” said Valley Principal Tim Miller. “His educational experiences and knowledge will serve him well as he assists us in striving for the continuous improvement we all are working towards within our school community.”

Perrigo is currently the middle school and high school principal at Collins-Maxwell Community Schools where he served for a year. Prior to his position at Collins-Maxwell, he had worked at Edmunds Elementary in the Des Moines Public Schools since 2007 as dean of students for four years and principal for two years.

He has experience in the WDMCS as a teacher in the Four Oaks Alternative School for the 2006-07 school year. He was also an at-risk coordinator at South O’Brien Community Schools and an elementary physical education teacher at Sergeant Bluff-Luton.   Perrigo brings a breadth of coaching experience, coaching boys and girls basketball, football and golf throughout his career.

He received his master’s degree in educational leadership from Viterbo University in 2010 and his bachelor’s degree in K-12 physical education/health education from Northwestern College in 2002.

Current Valley High School Associate Principal Robert Boley announced his resignation in June to become principal at Woodward-Granger High School.

WDMCS Superintendent Dr. Lisa Remy will present the recommendation to the WDMCS Board of Education at its July 14 meeting.
