VHS Students Receive Honors for National Spanish Exam
Congratulations to several world language students from Valley High School who attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2012 National Spanish Examinations.
Harrison Freund received a gold medal with 96 percent, Eastyn Fitzgibbon received a bronze medal and Catherine Leafstedt was an honorable mention.
“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States.”
Students from Valley High School have a long history of high achievement on these exams. Spanish teachers at Valley are Sue Boyle, Catherine Collins, Krista Cooley, Suzanne Herr, Tonya Redondo and Tara Friedley.
The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades six through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
