New for 2026-27: Transitional Kindergarten
Transitional kindergarten at WDMCS is a full-day, five-day per week program for students who need more time to grow before Kindergarten.
Feeding Our Community
We partner with the Food Bank of Iowa to provide necessary nutrition to students and families through food banks at eight buildings across the district.

Fannette Elliott resigned form the WDMCS Board of Education on March 23, 2026 following her election to the West Des Moines City Council. The Board will fill the vacancy by appointment.

Residents and taxpayers within the West Des Moines Community School district boundaries are invited to attend a public hearing regarding the proposed property tax levy for the 2027 fiscal year at 5:15 p.m. Monday, April 13 at the Learning Resource Center in West Des Moines.
