| What
is the Valley Tiger Booster Club?
The Valley
Tiger Booster Club is a non-profit organization committed
to providing financial support of student athletes involved
in each of the sports offered at Valley High School,
Valley Southwoods Freshman High School, and 8th grade
at Indian Hills and Stilwell Junior Highs. You are invited
to volunteer your time and energy to support these fundraising
activities. Membership is open to all members of the
West Des Moines community.
What
is its mission?
Our
mission
is to support the 8-12 competitive athletic program
with its members' time, financial support and spirit
at all contests during the year.
The purpose of the Valley Tiger Booster Club is to help
provide additional financial support to the general
athletic budget each year. All sport programs, grades
8-12, receive financial support through the Valley Tiger
Booster Club annual budget.
Why
do we need a booster club? Doesn’t the District
cover all costs associated with sports programs?
The district
only provides each school with enough money to pay for
coaches, referees, transportation, and some supplies,
such as medical equipment and balls. Big-ticket items
such as uniforms and practice gear can only be partially
funded through district funds. Thus, booster club funds
are needed to make up the difference.
How does the Booster Club raise money?
Money is raised through Booster Club memberships, concessions
sales, and merchandise. Anyone can join the Booster
Club at any time. Membership drives continue throughout
the year. Parent volunteers, representing various sports,
work the concessions stands at home events.
Who determines how the Booster Club profits are spent?
Allocating
the profits (how, where and when) is discussed at the
monthly Booster Club meetings. The Athletic Director
solicits input and priorities from the individual coaches
as well.
Why
should I join?
By becoming
a Booster Club member, you not only will help our young
athletes have a more enjoyable and rewarding high school
experience, but you also will make new friends and derive
satisfaction in knowing that your involvement helps
develop into a strong community venture that can bring
our school, parents, and student - athletes closer enriching
the Valley High School community.
I've been asked to be a Sports Rep. What is a Sport
Rep?
A Sport Representative
(Sport Rep) is a member of the Valley Tiger Booster
Club who has agreed to act as a liaison between the
Booster Club and a sport.
