Dr. Vicky Poole
was born and raised in the southern Iowa town of Leon. She graduated
in a class of 57 from the local high school. She received her Bachelor's
Degree from the University of Northern Iowa, her Master's Degree from
Northwest Missouri State University and her Specialist's Degree from
Drake University. In March she received a doctorate degree in educational
leadership from Drake University.
Dr. Poole is certified in all sciences, guidance and counseling, psychology,
and administration. She has had the pleasure of counseling and of
teaching chemistry and physics for districts large and small for many
years prior to becoming an administrator. She became a Valley Tiger
in 1996.
At
Valley her primary responsibilities are the care and support of
all students and staff by providing a climate in which all can learn
and grow. Dr. Poole is an advocate for every child with a firm belief
that connections with each other and connections with his/her learning
will provide a strong foundation for life's journey as well as joy
in their personal growth.
Dr.
Poole is a member of the National Association of Secondary Principals
and School Administrators of Iowa. She has been a presenter at the
North Central Association's Regional Meeting, Iowa Counseling Association
State Conventions, Iowa University Counselor Educators, Central
Iowa Metro League Principals Association, and the 2003 NASSP Convention.
The latter presentation was entitled, Personalizing Your School
with a Personal Adult Advocate.
Dr.
Poole has served in several state association capacities with the
Iowa Counselors Association and with the Iowa Association of College
Admission Counseling. She was very pleased to receive the Iowa Counseling
Association's 1996 Award for Professional Contributions.
Mr. Steve Duncan is a native Iowan graduating from Burlington High
School (1966). During his high school days he participated in football,
wrestling, track and baseball. His college career included stops at
Indian Hills Community College (Centerville), Southern Illinois University
(Carbondale)and he received a BSE Degree from Emporia State University,
Emporia, KS (1971). During his college experience he played football
and baseball. His teaching background included Business Education
instruction at Muscatine Senior High School and he also served as
the Head Baseball coach and assisted in football and wrestling. His
Masters degree was earned in Educational Administration from the University
of Iowa in 1981. He served as the Assistant Baseball coach at the
University of Iowa from 1979-1985. His administrative service began
in the fall of 1985 in Sterling, IL where he served as an Associate
Principal/ Director of Athletics. His interests include golf, golf,
golf and all TIGER activities! He was recently honored as the National
High School Athletic Director of the Year by the National High School
Coaches Association.
