Hillside Parent Teacher Club

Our Purpose:
To provide an opportunity for Hillside parents, teachers, and staff to work together and communicate well to meet the needs and promote the welfare and health of our students.

Our Goals:

  • Promote the welfare of children in home, school and community
  • Identify additional student and school needs
  • Prevent problems with thoughtful planning
  • Plan upcoming events and discuss/decide improvements
  • Find solutions to problems and take action
  • Help fund programs and items for our school and its students that don’t fit into the school budget
  • Vote and make decisions at most monthly meetings
  • Open and Relaxed Communication

How PTO Makes a Difference

  • We sponsor fun social activities that promote pride in our school and foster friendships:Skate Night, Carnival, Open House, Fun/Field Day
  • We help fund items and programs for our school that don’t fit into the budget:
    Some Examples: fish tank, Pulse Oximeter, additional playground equipment, after-school study time, outdoor benches, PE equipment
  • Communication between and among parents, teachers and staff makes Hillside Elementary a better school

Volunteer Opportunities
There are a variety of ways to get involved:

  • Specific events:
    registration, carnival, book fair, open house/soup supper, Red Ribbon Week, fall fundraiser, spelling challenge, original works art program, t-shirts

  • On-going committee events:
    Staff appreciation, hospitality, box tops, and yearbook

  • Inside the classroom:
    Homeroom parent or volunteer

  • At school:
    Media center, front office, Kid’s Bank

  • Away from school:
    LRC, fieldtrips, typists, other at-home

  • To sign-up as a volunteer:
    Contact the committee chair or a PTO officer or the volunteer coordinator
