9th thru 12th Grade Technology Guidelines

All students should have opportunities to demonstrate the following skills and behaviors prio to the completion of 9th thru 12th grade.

 

Standard 1:  Basic operations and concepts

  • Identify keywords, terms and search techniques in an Internet search engine. 
  • Troubleshoot and solve basic problems and malfunctions in hardware and software.
  • Utilize a variety of mass storage devices. 
    • Flash Drives
    • Compact Disks
    • 3 ½ Floppy Disks

Standard 2:  Social, Ethical and Human Issues

  • Understand and follow copyright laws as they apply to technology systems, information, and software. 
  • Evaluate technological information for accuracy, authority, objectivity, currency, and coverage. 
  • Observe district’s acceptable use policy. 
  • Demonstrate proper citation for various resources. 

Standard 3:  Technology Productivity Tools

  •  Demonstrate advanced skills in word processing.
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Publisher
  •  Use multimedia tools for presentations.
    • Microsoft Power Point
    • Moviemaker
    • Podcast
    • Microsoft Publisher
  •  Analyze and display data in various forms utilizing spreadsheet and database software.
    • Microsoft Excel
  • Superimpose text, data, graphics and all kinds of media between software programs.
  • Manage and communicate personal and professional information.
    • Finances
    • Schedules
    • Addresses
    • Purchases
    • Correspondence

Standard 4:  Technology Communication Tools

  • Create and publish informational webpages.
  • Utilize individual student email accounts for educational purposes.
  • Select and create many kinds of multi-media presentations.

Standard 5:  Technology Research Tools

  • Demonstrate appropriate use of print and online resources.
    • Identify keywords
    • Electronic library catalog
    • Subscription databases
    • Advanced Boolean searching
  • Evaluate technological information for accuracy, authority, objectivity, currency, and coverage. 
  • Identify the impact and importance of technology on science and our global society.

Standard 6:  Technology problem-solving and decision-making tools

      • Collaborate with peers, experts, and others to compile synthesize, produce and disseminate information, models, and other creative works using self-chosen technologies.
      • Given a problem, develop a course of action, resources needed to accomplish the task, and a timeline.
