All students should have opportunities to demonstrate the following skills and behaviors prio to the completion of 1st grade.
STANDARD 1: Basic operations and concepts
- Use input devices (e.g., mouse, keyboard, remote control) and output devises (e.g., monitor, printer) efficiently and effectively.
- Use audio-visual equipment such as tapes, CDs, and DVDs.
- Turn computer on and off.
- Log in and out of the network.
- Open and close a program independently.
- Use mouse/pointer/cursor.
- Perform keyboarding basics (space bar, enter key, recognize letter & number keys).
- Use microphone, headphones, and printer.
- Use developmentally appropriate multimedia and technology resources
(e.g., interactive books, educational software) to support learning.
- Communicate about technology using developmentally appropriate and accurate terminology.
STANDARD 2: Social, ethical, and human issues
- Work cooperatively and collaboratively with peers and others when using technology in the classroom.
- Assist and problem solve with other students.
- Demonstrate positive social and ethical behaviors when using technology.
- Respect others who are working.
- Request help appropriately.
- Practice responsible use of technology systems and software.
- Treat equipment with respect.
STANDARD 3: Technology productivity tools
- Create developmentally appropriate multimedia products with support from teachers or student partners.
- Produce word-processed stories and poems, illustrations, number sentences, math problems and patterns.
STANDARD 4: Technology communications tools
- Gather information and communicate with others using telecommunications, with support from teachers or student partners.
- Understand that the Internet is a place to access information stored by others.
- Participate in teacher-guided Internet lessons.
LANGUAGE ARTS - Create developmentally appropriate multimedia products with support from teachers or student partners.
- Produce word-processed stories and poems, illustrations, number sentences, math problems and patterns.
