| The Strengthening Families workshop is designed
to help improve communication skills in your family. The seven-week
class is for district families with students grades 6-12.
Payment may be made at the first session. The fee is $50 per
family. Financial assistance is available.
Class Information
WHO
Students in the West Des Moines Community School
District and their families who have been referred by the West Des Moines Youth Justice Initiative.
WHAT
Seven weekly meetings designed to strengthen your family's
ability to safely and successfully navigate the teen years
and prepare for a bright future.
SESSIONS
- Sessions run for a seven week period
- All sessions are held from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
- Five sessions are being held this year
- For session dates, please contact YJI Coordinator, Claudia
Henning OR your school's contact person.
- Three sessions are divided by the student's grade level
- During the first hour, parents and students meet separately
with their facilitators. During the second hour, parents and
students meet together as a family.
LOCATION
Sessions are held at one of two locations:
- WDM Police Department
- Learning Resource Center
