In the district’s approved 10-Year
Facility Improvement Plan dated August 30, 1999, the following procedure was identified for
voters prior to the November 23, 1999, election on the local option
sales and services tax for school infrastructure.
Additional one-year delay in the project schedules at Western Hills and Crestview Elementary schools. The revised schedules are listed on the previous page.
The remaining projects at Crossroads Park Elementary, Stilwell Junior High Phase 2 and Walnut Creek Alternative High School were moved outside the current Ten-Year Facility Plan and sales tax funding. This decision was based on a lack of growth in the projected sales tax revenue.
Desirable changes
to the 10-year facility plan will be made when a compelling rationale
or set of unique and unforeseen circumstances
supports making the change(s). The leadership team for West
Des Moines Community Schools will prepare and present the change
proposal to the Facility and Finance Committee for WDMCSD.
This
committee will review the rationale, financial implications
and the impact upon proposed projects within the plan. Administrators
and parent leaders from schools that will be immediately affected
by the change(s) will be notified and given the opportunity
to
provide feedback to the proposals. If the Facilities and Finance
Committee supports the proposed changes, it will present them
for approval during a regular meeting of the Board of Education.
Members of the Advisory Infrastructure Committee will be notified
of the proposed changes. Advisory Committee members and any
other member of the public will be given the opportunity to review
the proposed change(s) and comment upon the change(s) to the
plan prior to the Board conducting a vote on the proposal.
The
Advisory Infrastructure Committee will be notified of the Board’s
final decision.
