Study Groups

Five study groups are exploring facility needs in specific program areas.

Alternative High School
Root Questions….Is this the appropriate time to consider relocating the Walnut Creek Campus? If so, where do we begin with what the new campus should include such as a new look at curriculum and/or optional offerings?  Decision/Direction will allow the specific Project Architect to re-plan an existing building to accommodate program. These changes will determine the costs for relocating Walnut Creek. >> MORE

Fine Arts
To identify fine arts facility needs in our district (size, space, use); to consider fine arts facility possibilities for remodeling or new construction (with pros/cons); to consider fine arts facility possibilities for location (with pros/cons)  Decision/Direction will present list of fine arts facility needs, possibilities and pros/cons to the Superintendency on or before March 30. >> MORE

Science (STEM)
To address, consider, accept, reject or modify the proposed models outlined by Dave Blum in his memo dated 12/30/08.  Decision/Direction will allow Project Architects Project Engineers (PAPE) to include these spaces in their long range plans for K-6 schools and the remodeling required of the existing science labs in the junior highs and high schools accordingly. >> MORE

Special Programs
To include all areas of special needs including special ed, ESL, home school, etc. This includes adopting, or modifying the planning standards (area/student, staff/student, model room layouts etc) started by Ken Bussard in 2008.  Project Architects Project Engineers (PAPE) also need an overall concept as to what levels of disability are to be housed at each school and what levels of disability are not appropriate to separate such as the present situation at Jordan Creek. This concept needs to include specific requirements at K-6, junior highs and high schools. Decision/Direction will allow PAPE to include these spaces in the plans to be included in Facility Improvement Master Plan. >> MORE

Technology
To review the proposed needs for the next ten year as per the memo prepared by Brian Abeling dated 1/07/09. Subjects include structured cabling, consolidation of server rooms at LRC, security and emergency generator at LRC, updated telephone and voicemail systems, removal of CR TV’s, paging/intercom systems, video security, interactive CR’s, technology and science/fine arts.  Decision/Direction will allow Project Architects Project Engineers (PAPE)  to include these provisions such as support space, revised or new plans for interactive classrooms. etc in their plans for the Facility Improvements Master Plan. >> MORE
