Post Secondary Data: ACT
  • The number of 2006-07 graduates is 623 (558 Valley HS, 65 WCC).
  • According to ACT, the number of seniors who intended to pursue post-secondary education/training is 347 (73.7%) of 471 seniors tested.
  • According to the ACT, the number of seniors scoring a 20 or above is 85% (445 of 471).  This measure is an indication of how well West Des Moines graduates will meet success in post-secondary education and training.
  • According to the ACT, the number of seniors who have completed a core preparation program is 239 (50.7%).  A core preparation program is described by the ACT as a student who completes four years of language arts, at least three years of mathematics, science and social studies.  Students self-report these data.
  • The district average ACT composite score was 23.9.  The state average was 22.3 and the national average was 21.2.
