Reworking the screening to hide the mechanical equipment on
the roof is the only item to be completed. The original design
of the screening did not meet to the satisfactions of city
requirements. Designers and contractors are working to obtain
the least expensive alternative to meet these requirements.
The north end goalpost net has been erected. Screening for
the mechanical equipment on the locker room roof is still
an item of discussion with the city. All other items are warranty
items at the stadium.

Grading is complete and the majority of the foundations have
been placed. They have discovered old foundations and some
tile containing piping wrapped with asbestos in a small section
of the west wing. Solutions have been identified, however,
it is causing delay to the project in this area. Most of the
underslab utilities are in place and work has started on the
floor slab for the east wing. The off site storm sewer has
been installed and is ready for our connection at the manhole
in the street. The on site storm sewer work is complete on
the north end of the site, but work still remains to be completed
at the south end. Parking lot work at the Walnut Creek site
is scheduled for this week and work on the street widening
is also scheduled for this week. Precast and structural steel
are scheduled for arrival the week of August 25.
The Site Design Team continues to meet on a regular basis
and has narrowed the number of options to two. As soon as
a plan has been agreed upon by this group, work will start
with the city to further define the on and off site requirements
for items, such as traffic, storm water retention, parking,
etc.
Design development is 50 percent complete. The goal is to
complete all documents and have them ready for the bidding
process in February, so construction may start immediately
after school is out in 2004. Since the creek straightening
project was not acceptable to adjacent property owners, work
is underway to determine how best to bridge the creek and
use the area owned by the district on the west side of the
creek for additional playground space.
Structured cabling was installed in all of these schools this
summer. Fire alarm systems have been updated in all the schools,
except Phenix, where it was replaced. All work is scheduled
to be complete in the next few days.
Later this fall, proposals will be taken for a design firm
to lead the remodeling effort for these schools.
Work continues on the design and installation of the fiber
optic loop that will connect all facilities in the district.
The project is slightly ahead of schedule. Work is also underway
on the new phone system, which is slightly behind schedule.
Work is also underway on the renovation of the new area for
the Operations and Maintenance Facility and a large cooler/freezer
area for food storage.
